Where Did My Club Royale Certificates Go? Royal Caribbean’s Instant Rewards Just Went Digital
If you’ve cruised Royal Caribbean and played a little in the casino, you already know the best part isn’t the jackpot — it’s what your play earns you. On every single sailing, the more points you rack up, the more the casino hands you: free play, discounts, and the big one, instant cruise certificates for your next trip. We don’t chase these because we’re trying to win money. We chase them because they’re how a family of four keeps ending up on another ship without a scary credit card bill. Play for the perks; the perks are the point.
So when Royal Caribbean quietly changed how you find those certificates this year, a lot of casino cruisers — us included — went looking for something that wasn’t where it used to be. Here’s what actually happened, and how to make sure you don’t leave a free cruise sitting unclaimed.
The short version
Royal Caribbean launched a brand-new Club Royale website this year, and in the process, the way you view your instant certificates — the ones you earn during a single cruise by hitting point milestones — moved to a more digital, look-it-up-online setup. The old certificate-lookup tool that let you peek at what each point level unlocked? That got retired in the switch, and players noticed right away.
At the same time, when the new casino year kicked off on April 1, a lot of longtime players noticed the value of the instant certificates had been trimmed compared to years past. So there are really two things going on at once: where you find your certificates changed, and what they’re worth shifted a little too.
What “instant certificates” even are (quick refresher)
If you’re newer to this, here’s the one-paragraph version. There are three main ways to earn free or discounted cruises through Club Royale:
- Instant certificates — earned during a single sailing, based on how many points you pile up that trip. Hit a milestone, unlock a list of free or discounted future cruises.
- Targeted offers — the ones that show up in your account (and by mail and email) based on your overall play.
- The annual tier cruise — the free cabin you get for reaching Prime, Signature, or Masters status over the whole casino year.

So how do you find your certificates now?
Here’s the honest answer: the system is still settling, and a lot of what’s out there is player-reported rather than spelled out by Royal in black and white. But here’s what’s working for cruisers right now:
- Check the casino host desk first — always. This hasn’t changed. There’s a chart at the desk showing the reward tiers for that sailing, and the host can tell you exactly where your points stand and what you’ve unlocked. Some hosts will still print certificates for you before you disembark. Do this before you get off the ship — once you’re home, it’s much harder to sort out.
- Scan the QR codes onboard. The chart at the desk now leans on QR codes to pull up the full list of eligible sailings for the tier you’ve reached. Your phone is now part of the process.
- Log into your Club Royale account after the cruise for targeted offers. Even if you didn’t earn an instant certificate onboard, offers based on your play typically show up in your account a couple of weeks after you get home.
The move to digital isn’t automatically a bad thing — a QR code you can pull up on your phone beats a paper slip you might lose in a beach bag. But it does mean the old habit of “I’ll just look it up later on the website” doesn’t work like it used to. The certificate is tied to your sailing and your play, and the best moment to lock in what you earned is while you’re still onboard.
Our take (the perks-first read)
We’ve said it before and we’ll keep saying it: the smartest thing a family can do in a cruise casino is treat it as entertainment with a rebate, not as an income plan. These changes don’t really move that math. If anything, they reward the people who were already paying attention — checking the host desk, knowing their point count, and grabbing what they earned before the gangway.
A couple of things we’re doing differently this year because of the change:
- We treat the host desk like a mandatory stop, not an optional one. Mid-cruise and again before we disembark.
- We screenshot everything — the tier chart, our point total, whatever the QR code pulls up. Digital giveth, and digital occasionally glitcheth.
- We keep our expectations honest about value. The certificates are a little leaner than they were, so we don’t plan a whole trip around a certificate we haven’t actually earned yet.

The bottom line
Royal Caribbean moving Club Royale onto a new website and going more digital with instant certificates is really a reminder of something that was always true: your certificate is earned on the ship, and the ship is where you should claim it. Check the host desk, scan the codes, screenshot your points, and don’t count a free cruise until it’s actually in your account.
